Billionaire and Philanthropist George Soros the Target of Left- Wing Conspiracy Theorists

George Soros is an 86-year old billionaire and philanthropist who stand out in American history as one of the most successful investors. However, for nearly two decades he has been a target not of greedy businessmen and investors but conspiracy theorists. To them, Gorge Soros is the invisible hand that not only controls the world’s wealth but also working to create one global order. Business Insider noted that right-wing conspiracy theorists had targeted the prominent hedge fund manager and billionaire since he entered the political arena.

In 2004, George Soros made entry into politics by funding groups to block the reelection of President George W. Bush. He started criticizing the Iraq war as well. These attracted unending conspiracy theories citing his support for political groups as a façade for a despicable aim. The propaganda machines have even painted his support for democratic reforms as one act in the secretive scheme to control the world and make it more liberal.

In 2017, right-leaning sites claimed that George Soros had paid people to participate in the People’s Climate March and March for Science protests. The truth is that for a long time before Trump’s election, like many other philanthropic billionaires, Soros has always financed progressive groups. Some of these groups chose to take part in protests in 2017. Learn more about his profile at businessinsider.com

As the name implies, Open Society Foundation aims at promoting democratic governance and respect for individual rights. Reports on the foundation’s website show that it has given away more than $12 billion. Soros began by giving scholarships in 1979 to blacks South Africans. He later founded the Central European University as a center of promoting critical thinking after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Additionally, he helped the Soviet Society open itself to the world by funding cultural exchange between the West and Eastern Europe.

For the past two decades, George Soros has contributed in improving various social concerns. He has supported representation for individuals unlawfully held, financed the integration of Europe’s Roma, built schools and paid university fees for many students from marginalized groups. He is also supporting other organizations such as the European Council on Foreign Relations, Institute for New Economic Thinking, International Crisis Group, and Global Witness.
